(Louis Mercanton, 1915) Music compiled and arranged by Max Winkler)
Starring the famous actress Sarah Bernhardt, who appeared in very few films, this film is about a young man who murders his uncle. His mother (Bernhardt) finds out and tries to help him escape, but eventually he is caught. In one scene Sarah Bernhardt sees her brother’s blood in the washbasin in her son’s room and the blood on his jacket. An expression of gradually deepening horror comes over her face and gives some idea of why she was so highly regarded as an actress.
