The story of the appearance of the Virgin to a Mexican peasant during the colonial occupation of Mexico by the Spanish. Concerned about the travel by ship of her fiancé in submarine infested waters, the heroine submerges herself in a book about the first appearance of the virgin of Guadalupe to a Mexican Indian peasant. When her fiancé returns safely, they go to the cathedral to give thanks.
